Deuces Wild Triathlon Festival Goes Green!
Deuces Wild Triathlon Festival has always been dedicated to reducing the impact our events have on the environment. Beginning in 2009, we made a pledge to increase our efforts so that we have as little unusable waste as possible. Our landfill waste has dropped by over 200% since we instituted these efforts!
We are partnering with the Pinetop-Lakeside Sanitary District to compost everything we possibly can. They will accept all of our food waste, plates, napkins, utensils and cups, plus paper and cardboard. This waste will go through their treatment and become a soil additive.
No Print Registration
Mailing in a registration form wastes paper and resources, so we have done away with it! Go green with us and register online now!
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Offset your carbon footprint by using Carbonfund’s calculator to figure out how much carbon you used to get to the race, then make a donation to offset your impact on the environment. Visit their website to learn more, or start calculating now!
When registering for our events, you have the opportunity to share your email address with others who would like to carpool to the race. If you choose to share, race organizers will compile a list sorted by location and share it with all who have opted in. That will allow you to set up your own carpools with others from your area!
Recycling & Composting Stations
We will have recycling and composting stations all around our venue that will direct you where to put what kind of waste.
Digital Goodie Bags and Race Packets
We will be sending all of our race information digitally to those athletes signed up in advance. We cannot avoid having some paper on-site for those who sign up at the venue, but this will greatly reduce the amount of paper waste we generate.
We have our finisher medals custom made by Ashworth Awards, a company which recycles old medals into new ones! We think you'll love our new designs!
You have the option to decline a race shirt, saving resources instead of wasting them on something you won't wear!
